Walks in the Wild is committed to creating safe, supportive, and challenging hiking experiences. By submitting an Expression of Interest or participating in a hike, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

Participation & Responsibility

Walks in the Wild hikes are physically and mentally demanding outdoor experiences. Participants acknowledge that hiking involves inherent risks, including uneven terrain, weather exposure, fatigue, and physical exertion.

By participating, you confirm that you are undertaking the hike voluntarily and accept responsibility for your own safety and wellbeing.

Experience & Suitability

Participants must select a hike level (Easy, Medium, or Challenging) that aligns with their experience, fitness, and confidence.

For Challenging hikes, an Expression of Interest (EOI) assessment is required before a place can be offered. Walks in the Wild reserves the right to:

  • Decline participation

  • Suggest an alternative hike level

  • Remove a participant from a hike if safety concerns arise

These decisions are made in the interest of individual and group safety.

Gear & Equipment

Participants are responsible for supplying their own personal hiking gear, including but not limited to:

  • Clothing suitable for variable weather

  • Footwear

  • Backpack

  • Personal safety items outlined in the pre-hike information pack

A detailed gear list will be provided prior to the hike. Failure to bring required gear may result in exclusion from the hike without refund.

Food

All meals during the hike are provided, unless otherwise stated.

Dietary requirements must be disclosed at the time of booking or EOI submission. While every effort will be made to accommodate dietary needs, Walks in the Wild cannot guarantee suitability for all medical or allergy-related conditions.

Medical Disclosure

Participants must disclose any relevant medical conditions, injuries, allergies, or physical limitations prior to the hike.

Failure to disclose relevant information may result in exclusion from the hike without refund.

Emergency Response & Insurance

While every effort is made to manage risk and ensure participant safety, hiking takes place in remote and variable environments.

In the event of an emergency, Walks in the Wild will coordinate emergency response and extraction where required, including contacting emergency services.

Participants are responsible for holding their own ambulance cover and appropriate personal insurance to cover any costs associated with:

  • Ambulance services

  • Medical treatment

  • Emergency extraction or evacuation

Walks in the Wild is not responsible for any costs incurred as a result of emergency response, medical treatment, or evacuation.

Weather, Conditions & Course Changes

Hiking is weather and condition dependent.

For safety reasons, Walks in the Wild reserves the right to:

  • Modify the planned route

  • Change the course location

  • Adjust the difficulty level

  • Cancel a hike if conditions are unsafe

Three course options exist to allow flexibility. If required, a hike may be transferred to an alternative course of equal or similar difficulty.

No refunds are provided for course or location changes made in the interest of safety.

Payments

  • Full payment is required once a place is confirmed

  • For Challenging hikes, payment is only accepted after EOI approval

  • Prices are subject to change until payment is received

  • Bookings are not confirmed until payment has been made in full

  •

Cancellations & Refunds

  • Participant cancellations are non-refundable, unless otherwise specified

  • Bookings are non-transferable without written approval

  • If Walks in the Wild cancels a hike due to safety, weather, or unforeseen circumstances, participants will be offered:

    • A credit toward a future hike, or

    • A transfer to an alternative hike (subject to availability)

    •

Behaviour & Group Expectations

Walks in the Wild operates with a zero-ego, safety-first culture.

Participants are expected to:

  • Follow instructions

  • Act respectfully toward others

  • Support a positive group environment

Walks in the Wild reserves the right to remove any participant whose behaviour compromises safety or group cohesion, without refund.

Acknowledgement of Risk

By submitting an Expression of Interest or participating in a hike, you acknowledge the inherent risks of outdoor activities and agree to participate at your own risk.

Acceptance of Terms

By submitting an Expression of Interest, making payment, or participating in a Walks in the Wild hike, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
