Two Bays Overnight Experience

Easy | Confidence Builder

The Two Bays Walking Track is one of Victoria’s most well-known coastal bush walks, stretching between Dromana and Cape Schanck. For Walks in the Wild, this hike is intentionally designed to be flexible and adaptable, making it ideal for women who want the experience of overnight hiking without committing to long distances.

Rather than completing the full trail end-to-end, this hike is planned around participant confidence, fitness, and goals, with distances tailored accordingly.

The overnight camp is set at the peaceful Lightwood Creek Camping Area, allowing everyone to share the same camp experience regardless of how far they choose to walk.

Day 1 – Drop-off Walk to Lightwood Creek

Approx. 8–14 km | Easy (distance varies)

We’ll begin day one with a pre-arranged drop-off point along the Two Bays Walking Track. The exact starting location is chosen based on preference, weather, and experience levels.

From there, we’ll walk along wide, well-formed bush tracks toward Lightwood Creek. The terrain is straightforward and easy to follow, with time to find a comfortable pace, take breaks, and settle into walking with a pack.

By mid to late afternoon, we’ll arrive at Lightwood Creek campground, set up camp, and enjoy a relaxed evening outdoors - a chance to unwind, share a meal, and experience the quiet satisfaction of a night spent in the bush.

Day 2 – Flexible Return Walk

Approx. 8–14 km | Easy (distance varies)

After breakfast and packing up camp, we’ll head out for day two.

Depending on group preference and conditions, day two may be:

  • A continuation along the trail to a second pick-up point, or

  • An out-and-back walk returning toward the original drop-off area

This flexibility allows the hike to be adjusted so everyone finishes feeling challenged — but not overwhelmed.

We’ll aim to complete the walk by early to mid-afternoon, finishing with a strong sense of accomplishment and confidence.
