French Island Overnight Adventure

Easy | Confidence Builder

This overnight hike on French Island offers something a little different. Accessible by ferry yet wonderfully remote, French Island feels like stepping back in time - quiet tracks, open landscapes, and expansive views across Western Port.

This hike is ideal for women looking for a confidence-building overnight adventure with a sense of exploration, without technical terrain or complex navigation.

Day 1 – Ferry to French Island & Walk to Camp

Approx. 8–9 km | Easy

Our adventure begins with a morning ferry crossing to French Island, adding an immediate sense of occasion to the trip.

Once on the island, we’ll shoulder packs and begin walking along wide, gently undulating tracks toward the campground. The terrain is straightforward and easy to navigate, allowing plenty of time to find a comfortable pace, settle into walking with a pack, and enjoy the quiet surroundings.

We’ll arrive at camp in the afternoon with time to set up, relax, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of island life - far removed from the busyness of the mainland.

Day 2 – The Pinnacles & Return to the Mainland

Approx. 9–10 km | Easy

After breakfast and packing up camp, we’ll head out for day two’s highlight - the walk up to the Pinnacles.

This section offers gentle climbs and rewarding views, providing a sense of achievement without feeling overwhelming. From the high points, we’ll take in sweeping views across the island and Western Port before making our way back toward the ferry.

We’ll aim to catch the return ferry back to the mainland, finishing the hike feeling tired, grounded, and quietly proud -before heading home.
