Mount Feathertop Loop

The Mount Feathertop loop is one of Victoria’s most iconic alpine hikes - and a true step up from the Easy course.

This two-day loop delivers everything alpine hiking is known for: long climbs, ridgeline walking, changing conditions, and wide-open views. It’s physically demanding, but deeply rewarding, and best suited to women who already have a good fitness base and some experience walking for extended periods.

Due to the long drive from Melbourne and the size of the walking days, participants have the option to stay in Harrietville the night before and/or after the hike to make the experience more manageable and enjoyable.

Day 1 – Alpine Ascent & Ridgeline Walking

Approx. 14–15 km | Moderate to challenging

Day one is a big day on the legs, with sustained climbing as we gain altitude and work our way into the alpine environment.

The trail is well-defined but demanding, requiring steady pacing, patience, and the ability to keep moving for several hours. As we climb higher, the scenery opens up, rewarding the effort with expansive alpine views and a true sense of being immersed in the high country.

By late afternoon, we’ll reach our overnight camp area, set up camp, and settle in for the evening -tired, satisfied, and well aware that we’ve earned our rest.

Day 2 – Loop Completion & Descent

Approx. 14–15 km | Moderate

After breakfast and packing up camp, we’ll complete the loop, continuing along high ridgelines before beginning the long descent back toward our starting point.

Day two still requires focus and endurance, but the effort feels different -less about climbing and more about managing tired legs, maintaining good movement, and finishing strong.

We’ll aim to finish in the afternoon, wrapping up a full alpine loop that leaves you feeling proud, capable, and deeply grounded.
